Katanas are still swords, and warriors use swords... Although that doesn't stop assassins from getting some use out of them. You can get yourself a katana from a lot of the weapon crafters in Factions if you really want one

Awesome thread here. I won't bother to flame your comment on swords because I assume (and hope) it's sarcastic, but do you know why Assassins have daggers and not katanas? Because Assassins like little weapons they can subtly stick into someone, they like stealth, concealment and subtlety. Katanas are for Warriors that like swinging big pieces of metal around.

PS: I will give you some credit for what you said about sword skills - they would suck with an Assassin, I guess, but I really, REALLY hope you weren't thinking of using swords on your 'sin.

Sins are kinda ninjas and ninjas has katana right?

So why no katana for assassin in GW ? I mean, anet should just make a new weapon class and specific skills for katanas, so Sin could have cool looking weapon instead of little daggers that you barely see.

yah I totally agree, and in addition I think rangers should have sniper rifles, and anet should put forth the effort to incorporate that into the game, since, you know, that'd just be SO much cooler than a bow and arrow

Then, look up the arts practiced by Ninja.

Hint: Assassin is not of asian origin, and Ninja do not use Katana.

first, understand assassin is a concept first, and not a word.
the etymology of assassin comes from arabic, which i'm sure is what your talking about. hasish, hasassin, etc.

however, assassin the concept(shadows, hidden weapons, stealth, paid killing) is not arabic, and your a fool if you believe otherwise(i.e., that contract killing might be unique). ninja are not assassins, either.

therefore, the one accuracy of that post was that ninja do not use katana(well, they may have employed swords of the katana/and/or wakizashi style, but they would not be called as such)
